The above was taken at Cabella’s, in what I call “the dead zoo:” the very elaborate mountain scene taxidermy display. At this point, my toddler likes it as much as the real live zoo (though I hope this will change).

And Fleet Farm is rewarding in so many ways.

Some of the best work ever…

… was intended for children. I just found this great blog dedicated to the rich history of children’s book illustration. Fact: I had a great job as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota’s Kerlan Children’s Book Collection, where I basically got to spend the whole day cataloging (read: looking at) original children’s book art from the 1950s and 1960s.

Finding Design at the Fair

I came home from the Waushara county fair with over twenty photos of prize produce. This is my favorite shot, mostly due to the fresh — no pun intended — combination of color.
